As part of the GMV-UPM Chair, a collaboration agreement between GMV and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), the School of Computer Systems Engineering (Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de Sistemas Informáticos: ETSISI) have launched a hackathon to encourage UPM students to come up with innovative solutions to various challenges based on real situations faced by GMV every day.

The challenges have been proposed jointly by GMV professionals and UPM teaching staff, who will also make up the jury that will choose the top solution to each one. To take part in the competition, students must register by 30 July on the event website:

https://forms.gle/H7QKhZEGtNCCdNuWA

The hackathon will pit students against three challenges. Participants will decide individually how many challenges they wish to take on, although only one of the solutions will be selected by the jury. The period for submitting proposals will end on 15 September. Once they have all been evaluated, a prize will go to the top solution to each challenge. The prize will consist of a GMV-UPM scholarship to work in the GMV lab located on the ETSISI campus, as well as a Raspberry Pi.

With this hackathon, GMV and the UPM are once again working together to match training needs to labor market demands, giving students a chance to experience first-hand the professional challenges they will face in tomorrow’s world of work.
