CTA, GMV, Redeia y Ghenova muestran en Sevilla el futuro de la IA y robótica para una industria inteligente y sostenible

Over 30 representatives of groundbreaking companies met today at a conference organized by CTA (Corporación Tecnológica de Andalucía) at the Cartuja Qanat facilities in the PCT Cartuja in Seville on "Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for more sustainable industry" at the Cartuja Qanat facilities. The event brought together leaders of the technology sector and industrial representatives to hear real cases from the companies GMV, Redeia, and Ghenova on how robotics and artificial intelligence are revolutionizing sustainability in the industrial sector and driving towards a smart and sustainable industry.

Álvaro Pimentel, Third Deputy Mayor of Seville City Council and Councilor for Cartuja, Innovative Parks, Employment, Economy, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, closed the meeting and stressed that "AI and robotics are not just drivers of innovation and competitiveness; they are essential for building the kind of industry that is not only economically viable but also environmentally and socially responsible." He noted that "it is our duty, each of us in our role in the public or private sector, to embrace these technologies and lead the way towards a more sustainable future."

For his part, the general manager of PCT Cartuja, Luis Perez, thanked the participating companies for "their eagerness to share results, showcasing the vast technological talent that Andalusia has." Perez praised PCT Cartuja "as an ideal location both to launch new products and to test them."

The president of CTA, Beltran Perez, said that "Andalusia has the capacity to innovate in AI and robotics" and offered CTA's support to further develop new R+D+I projects that make progress in their application. He highlighted that "over 47% of all the R+D+I projects promoted by CTA in the last five years are related to the development of artificial intelligence or apply it to other sectors."

Four-legged robots to inspect electrical infrastructure

GMV presented the results of the ASUMO (Advanced SUbstation MOnitoring) project, an initiative led by Elewit and Red Eléctrica (two Redeia companies charged with driving technological innovation in the group and transporting and operating the national electricity system, respectively), to optimize remote management of electrical substations using artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), data analytics, and autonomous mobile robotics.

Daniel Ruiz Ayala, Control & Monitoring Systems Manager of Red Eléctrica, and Ángel C. Lázaro Ríos, Head of Robotics and Automation of GMV's Industry Sector, presented the progress of the ASUMO project. They explained how they are using autonomous mobile robotics to inspect electrical substations, which is critical to ensuring the efficiency and safety of the power supply. The project includes the integration of GMV's uPathWay software platform in a four-legged robot, allowing autonomous performance of missions such as reading analog indicators, thermographic reports, detection and tracking of oil leaks, etc.

The event concluded with a live demonstration in the outdoor area of Cartuja Qanat, where GMV and Redeia demonstrated the operation of the four-legged robot with the uPathWay system. Attendees observed firsthand how this advanced technology can perform complex inspections with high precision and autonomy, marking a milestone in the management of electrical infrastructure.

CTA continues to support and promote technological innovation in Andalusia, facilitating meetings like this one that enhance collaboration between companies and encourage the development of sustainable solutions for the industry of the future.
