5G in the value chain for fruits and vegetables

5G en la cadena de valor de frutas y hortalizas

5G is the fifth generation of mobile network technology. Compared to earlier versions, it offers much faster connection speeds and improved data transmission capacity. 5G is able to provide ultra-low latency, which means that devices can communicate and process data in real time. This is essential for Industry 4.0 and process automation.

When plants are cultivated in greenhouses, smart sensors and devices can compile real-time data about their growing conditions and needs, and about the condition of their fruit. This can also be done in warehouses. All of this is key for the advancement of task automation and robotization.

This webinar organized by Almería Smart Agri Hub will feature a first-hand analysis by a group of experts in this technology, who will discuss the state of the art and its possibilities for application to fruit and vegetable production and commercialization. Miguel Hormigo, Manager of GMV’s Industry sector, will present a talk about the use of 5G for technological advancement in autonomous mobile robotics (5:25 PM).
