Navigation, approach and landing systems

GMV’s experience in the development of satellite navigation systems and its participation as a key firm in the major European programs in this field (EGNOS, GALILEO), as well as its developments of onboard software and avionics, all qualify it for carrying out approach and landing system development programs based on satellite navigation, especially for critical landing situations on mobile platforms such as aircraft carriers:

  • SAGRAN (standing in Spanish for “Relative-GPS-Based Precision Approach and Landing System”) began its development back in 1996, and a prototype demonstrator has been fitted on the Príncipe de Asturias aircraft carrier. It allows simultaneous control of the precision approach on one aircraft under poor visibility conditions while also giving air-navigation information to up to 15 aircraft operating round the vessel, using a single data channel.
  • SISCAR (standing in Spanish for “Joint System for Aircraft Approach and Recovery”) will be a joint army-navy-airforce system that is interoperable with NATO STANAGs
