magicGEMINI Key Features

magicGEMINI processing is fully compliant with international aviation standards such as ICAO GNSS SARPs, RTCA/DO-208 (GPS MOPS) and RTCA/DO-229 C&D (SBAS MOPS) in order to accurately reproduce the expected air navigation user performance.

magicGEMINI includes a complete set of built-in analysis modules to properly evaluate signal quality and a wide variety of individual key performance indicators like satellite geometry, accuracy, integrity, continuity and service availability. ICAO PBN/RNP compliance analysis is also supported. The different performance analysis can be run either locally at given locations such as airports, or regionally in larger areas such as TMAs or FIRs. Some of the analysis modules have been specifically designed to investigate the causes and effects of potential service degradations.

magicGEMINI

magicGEMINI can be operated in two modes: real-time and post-processing. The real-time mode allows monitoring the GNSS system performance over a given airspace and automatically generate warnings and alarms in case of service degradations for any of the supported operations. The post-processing mode can be used to a-priori evaluate the suitability of GNSS to support operations in a given airspace or flight procedure starting from historical recorded data.

Main figures of merit that are displayed in real time analysis are:

  • Satellite Visibility Polar Map
  • Satellite Monitoring Status
  • Number of visible/monitored satellites
  • Protection Levels
  • Navigation System Errors
  • Dilution of Precision
  • SBAS Integrity information
  • RAIM Integrity information
  • Horizontal/Vertical Protection Level extrapolation map
  • Instantaneous/Cumulative availability extrapolation map
  • Continuity Risk extrapolation map
  • Number of visible/monitored satellites extrapolation map

The post-processing mode can be used to a-priori evaluate the suitability of GNSS to support operations in a given airspace or flight procedure starting from historical recorded data. All figures of merit shown in real time are also displayed in post-processing mode, plus some additional ones:

  • Latitude, Longitude and Altitude
  • X, Y and Z (ECEF)
  • Velocity and Acceleration (ECEF)
  • SOG, COG and Vertical Velocity
  • HDOP, VDOP and PDOP
  • Number of measurements and used measurements
  • Satellites Visibility
  • North, East and Vertical Errors
  • North Error vs. East Error
  • HNSE and VNSE
  • SNR
  • Clock bias and drift
  • RAIM Protection Levels
  • RAIM Stanford’s Diagram
  • RAIM availability
  • RAIM integrity failures
  • SBAS Stanford’s Diagram
  • SBAS availability
  • Safety index

Statistical characterization of these parameters in terms of mean, standard deviation, histogram, cumulative distribution function, etc. can be also obtained from magicGEMINI.

magicGEMINI supports different data formats, including open formats like NTRIP, RINEX, SISNeT, as well as binary formats from different receiver manufacturers.
